When your teen says "I'm fine" - but you know they're not

These are the words we hear most from teens before their first session. If any of these feel familiar, you're in the right place.

What it is

What is teen counselling?

Teen counselling is a form of psychotherapy designed specifically for the emotional and psychological challenges of adolescence. It's a confidential space - separate from parents, school, and community - where a teenager can speak freely without editing themselves.

At Hap Therapy Care, online teen counselling addresses anxiety, academic stress, identity, family conflict, ADHD, and the particular weight carried by South Asian and Tamil teens navigating two cultures at once.

Sessions are virtual, available province-wide, and conducted in Tamil, English, or both.

The cultural layer

Why South Asian teens need culturally aware support

There's a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from living between two worlds. For South Asian and Tamil teens, therapy isn't just about anxiety or grades - it's about carrying expectations that were never openly discussed.

"With Hareesma, your teen won't need to explain their whole background before they can talk about what's actually happening."

Hareesma Amutha Venkatesan

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) · CRPO #17974

Hareesma is a Tamil-speaking psychotherapist from India who has lived the experience of immigration, identity conflict, and navigating two cultures - the very things many of her teen clients are working through now. She holds an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is registered with the CRPO.

She works with South Asian teens, adults, and mothers across Ontario, and is one of a very small number of CRPO-registered Tamil-speaking therapists in the province. With Hareesma, your teen won't spend the first three sessions explaining their background -she already understands the context.
